Product Information


Great Northern beans are large white beans with a mild flavor and mealy texture.  Native to the Americas, they have a very long history of cultivation and have traditionally been used in baked casseroles.


Dried great northern beans are best stored in an air-tight container in a cool, dry place.


Though great northern white beans have long been considered to be casserole beans, they also work well in soups or when used to add body to simple dishes of pasta and fresh herbs.

Basic Cooking Technique:

Dried great northern beans should be soaked overnight prior to cooking. To cook them on the stovetop, first boil them for three minutes, skimming off any foam that rises to the surface. Reduce the heat and simmer (covered) until tender. One cup of dry great northern beans yields about 2 ½ cups of cooked beans.
