Micro dianthus flowers are in the same family as carnations. They have delicate, feathery, deep purple-red petals with fluted edges and green-purple stalks below the blossom. These are some of the smaller edible flowers available and thus a delicate garnish.
Dianthus flowers have a somewhat bitter flavor.
