Ostrich is the solution to this problem. Though it has a flavor and texture similar to beef, it is very lean and low in cholesterol like other poultry. It is also high in heart-healthy iron.

Not only do the chunks of pistachio that stud these sausages give them a nutty flavor, but pistachios themselves may also have heart-healthy properties according to the USDA.

These sausages have been smoked to add extra flavor, but are only lightly spiced so you can enjoy the taste of the ostrich and the nuttiness of the pistachios.

Store frozen ostrich sausages in your freezer until you're ready to use it, then defrost as many packs as you need.
