This Black Sea Sea Salt is a version of Kala Namak (aka Sanchal) style salt popular in Northern Indian Cuisine. A unique purple/pink grey color, it possesses unique flavor and odor beyond that of conventional salt due to its natural sodium sulfide content. This sulfuric smell and eggy flavor is why it is also used in certain vegan dishes designed to mimic eggs.
This Sanchal contains no preservatives or anti-caking agents, and is certified kosher. Black sea salt granules are very small (very fine).
Applications: Kala Namak is used in a variety of Northern Indian chutneys, snacks, and street food dishes. It can be used to make homemade Chaat Masala, an Indian spice blend. Sanchal can also be added to vegan faux-egg dishes to help simulate the odor and flavor of cooked eggs.
How to Store and Share: Store black sea salt in a cool, dry place.
