Small Mackerel in Olive Oil
Choose 1 or 6 tins of 3 oz. each
Small mackerel (72%), olive oil (27%), and salt.
Larger & meatier than sardines, but selected to be small enough to fit in a fish tin, these small mackerel are remarkably tender and don’t have the intensely fishy flavor found in a lot of canned fish. Enjoy them as you would sardines in sandwiches and salads, in tapas, or right out of the tin.

Store tinned fish in a cool, dry place. Refrigerate in a sealed container after opening the tin.
RECIPES & TIPS
Spanish & Portuguese-style tinned fish (conservas) are cooked and ready to eat right out of the tin. They’re meant to be enjoyed on their own (perhaps with some nice crusty bread or a light salad) or with simple accompaniments rather than as an ingredient, as further cooking them can damage their flavor and texture.
Enjoy small mackerel right out of the can as a tasty, healthy snack. They’re also a great addition to salads, sandwiches, hors d’oeuvres, tapas, etc.
