Dried blazei mushrooms (agaricus blazei - aka brazillian caps, himematsutakes, piedade mushrooms) are a cultivated mushroom variety with a slightly sweet, almond-esque flavor and aroma.

Some medical research suggests that blazei mushrooms may stimulate the immune system and impede the growth of cancerous cells.


Store dried agaricus blazei mushrooms in an air-tight container in a cool, dry place.


Dried mousseron mushrooms can be rehydrated by soaking them in boiling water for about 15-20 minutes until tender (How to Reconstitute Dried Mushrooms). They can also be added to soups or braises to rehydrate during the cooking process (simmer or braise for at least 25 minutes to soften).

Blazei mushrooms can be used in salads, soups, or side dishes (they pair particularly well with fish and tofu). Some people also steep the dried mushrooms in hot water to make tea.
