Sweet Potato Flour

This sweet potato flour (aka camote flour, farine de patate douce) is naturally gluten free and is milled from native Peruvian sweet potatoes. It can be used (usually in consort with other gluten free flours) in all sorts of baked good & breakfast bread recipes – sweet or savory, or as a gluten free thickener or breading. It imparts a slight sweetness.
Sweet potatoes have been a staple crop in Peru for over 5,000 years (and may have been first domesticated there 8,000-10,000 years ago). They are high in fiber, iron, vitamin A and calcium. This flour is produced from sweet potatoes grown by small independent Peruvian farmers.
Please keep sweet potato flour in an air-tight cool, dry place.
RECIPES & TIPS
Sweet potato flour can be used (usually along with other gluten free flours) in gluten free recipes for breakfast breads like crepes, waffles and pancakes or baked goods like cookies & muffins.
Sweet potato flour also works as a thickener for soups, stews and sauces and can be used in breading.
Gluten Free Baking: Sweet potato flour will work on its own for some baked goods, but is frequently combined with other flours (amaranth, rice, etc) in a 50/50 blend.
Wheat Flour Baking: Sweet potato flour can also be used in a 50/50 blend with wheat flour in many recipes.
