Brown Arborio Rice
Choose 10 or 60 lbs
Brown (unpearled) Arborio rice is the same short-grain rice prized for making risotto, but with the outer bran left on. This gives it a chewier texture, nuttier flavor, and enhanced nutrition.
Brown Arborio rice can be used similarly to other brown rice varieties in side dishes, rice pilaf, stuffing, soups & more. It can also be used to make brown rice risotto, though an extra cooking step is required beyond what is traditional when using white Arborio.
Store brown arborio rice in an airtight container in a cool, dry, dark place.
RECIPES & TIPS
Brown Arborio rice can be used in any recipe calling for brown rice. Try it in rice salads, pilafs, stuffing, soups & simple rice sides. Its nutty flavor pairs particularly well with beans, roasted or grilled vegetables, mushrooms, chicken, and/or shrimp.
Making Risotto with Brown Arborio Rice
This rice can be used to make risotto, but because the bran is left on, it won’t be as creamy and requires an extra par-cooking step. First simmer the rice in salted water for 10-15 minutes, until the grains plump up. Drain off the water and continue as normal with the traditional risotto technique.
