Black summer truffle peelings can be added to food as you would sliced truffles.  They are an inexpensive way to add the appearance of black truffles to your dishes.

Though they’re certainly more affordable than fresh truffles, most chefs feel that canned truffle peelings don’t impart much flavor. They’re usually used to add the appearance of truffles to a dish in combination with intensely flavored truffle oil or truffle salt to give the food truffle flavor and aroma.

If you're looking for an out of season truffle option that provides good flavor, a far better alternative would be frozen European truffles.

STORAGE

Storage:

Store preserved black truffle peelings in a cupboard until you open them, then keep them in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.

Shelf Life:

Once opened, preserved truffles will keep in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

RECIPES & TIPS

Because preserved truffles tend to be extremely mild in flavor, they are often used only for appearance's stake and paired with other truffle products like truffle oils and truffle salts to amp up the dish's overall truffle flavor.
