Wild onions (Allium triquetrum – aka Three-Cornered Leek) have a crisp texture and a pleasantly mild onion/leek flavor. They’re native to Europe and Africa, but are actually an invasive species in the Pacific Northwest, so you’re helping the environment by encouraging foragers to collect them.

Wild onions may arrive with flowers attached to the top. These are edible (and delicious!).

Oh So Good

Growing up, my family foraged wild onions. As an adult they were one of my favorite meals prepared with scrambled eggs.
