Shiso (aka perilla, ohba, ooba, Japanese basil, beefsteak plant, rattlesnake weed) is a popular herb in Japan and Korea, particularly with fish. Green shiso has a basil/fennel/mint flavor, while purple (aka red) shiso has a spicier cumin/ginger/cinnamon flavor.
This mix is a blend of both green and red shiso microgreens. The smaller, more delicate green and purple leaves blend together to beautiful effect.
Store micro shiso in your refrigerator in its plastic clamshell.
In general, microgreens will stay fresh for 5-7 days. Some hardier varieties can last longer.
RECIPES & TIPS
Micro shiso is the perfect garnish for sushi and sashimi, but is a good choice for cooked seafood (especially fried fish and richer varieties like salmon) as well as salads.
