Product Information


An important spice in Nepalese cooking, timut peppercorns (aka timur pepper) are a dark brown/black relative of more common Szechuan peppercorns with a similar, but more citrusy, flavor and tingling effect. In Nepalese cuisine they’re used in meat and/or vegetable dishes, chutneys and pickles.

Note: This product has been irradiated to protect against microbes and disease.


Store green Szechuan peppercorns in an airtight container in a cool, dry, dark place.


Green Szechuan peppercorns can be used similarly to red ones, but are more intensely flavorful. Try using them to season stir fry dishes or rubs for poultry, meats, and seafood.

Szechuan peppercorns are an important component in Chinese five spice powder (with star anise, cloves, cinnamon & fennel seed) & often paired with ginger and/or garlic. To awaken their full flavor, lightly toast them in a dry pan before grinding.
