Italian Panforte di Siena
 |
Panforte (“strong bread” in Italian, aka Siena cake) is a style of flat, incredibly dense cake created in Siena, Italy during the medieval era. Because they are so satisfying and bold flavored, only a small slice is needed for each serving.
Though panforte is traditionally served during the Christmas season, it can be enjoyed year round as a delicious dessert with tea or coffee. It also makes a great snack that will hold off hunger for hours (they were used as travel food by soldiers in the Crusades), and can be stored for up to a year.
Additional flavors (panforte nero, panpepato, torta al marzapane) and larger sizes (up to 22lbs!) may be available on a special order basis. Contact us to find out! |
