Edible Fresh Flowers, Crystallized Flowers & Ice Cream Flowers
 |
These beautiful flowers are not simply edible flower varieties, they have been farmed expressly to be safe to eat. They can be used as garnishes, cake decorations, and can be candied. Of particular note in the fresh flowers section are the Szechuan buttons and dulce buttons, which have unique flavor and sensation properties that have to be experienced to be believed!
Crystallized Flowers are grown in the same way (by the same farmers) as their counterparts in the Fresh Edible Flowers category. They are then candied using sugar and egg whites before being brushed with food-safe lacquer. The results are not only gorgeous, they’re shelf stable and these flowers can be kept in a cupboard for months before use.
Molded Ice Cream Flowers aren’t real flowers at all, but premium ice creams and sorbets hand-molded into beautiful flower shapes. Ice cream molding is a dying art that may date back as far as the 17th century, and the results are both elegant and astonishing. |
