Sockeye lox is made by brining wild caught sockeye salmon in a honey/salt mixture and then cold smoking it over alder wood. This low temperature preparation results in a lighter flavor than hot smoked salmon and a luxuriously silky texture.
Wild sockeye lox is a robust lox preparation with a rich, full flavor and stunning bright red color. It offers a substantially stronger salmon taste than traditional East Coast-style lox, which is usually made with extremely mild farmed salmon.
This sockeye salmon has been sustainably fished off the coast of Alaska by small family-run fishing boats and expertly prepared for extremely high quality.
We also offer sockeye fillets and whole Bristol Bay sockeyes.
Storage: Store lox in your refrigerator. It can be frozen in its pouches for long term storage.
Shelf Life: Up to two months unopened. Each pouch will last 7-10 days once opened. If frozen in unopened pouches, smoked salmon will maintain its quality for several additional months.
Lox is traditionally enjoyed with cream cheese on bagels, but can also be used to make delicious smoked salmon sandwiches, especially if paired with sour/spicy elements that brighten it up (for example: red onions or capers).
