These dried habanero chilies are certified organic. Habanero chilies are some of the hottest chili peppers available (although not nearly as hot as the world’s hottest, the ghost chili). They are round, oblong, and about 3/4th of an inch wide. There’s more to them than just their considerable heat, however. Behind the spice is a fruity flavor that makes these chilies a delicious way to spark up a dish and even welcome in some desserts. We also offer non-organic dried habanero chilies and pure habanero chili powder.
Caution: These chilies are extremely hot.
- Wear gloves while handling chilies. Wash hands thoroughly before touching eyes & sensitive tissue.
- If grinding, avoid inhaling powder. Eye & respiratory protection recommended.
- In the event of inhalation, move to open air to clear lungs.
- In the event of burning eyes, flush with eye wash. For burning skin, wash thoroughly with soap & water.
- If irritation persists, seek medical aid.
Storage: Store organic habanero chilies in an air-tight container in a cool, dark cupboard.
Shelf Life: Habanero chilies will retain their potency for at least a year, but likely much longer.
Habaneros are very, very hot, so use them carefully. Add a little to fresh salsa, sauces, chili and anything else you want to start a 4 alarm fire with. They’re great in tortilla soup and other Mexican recipes.
If you’re careful, you can even add ground habaneros to desserts (particularly ones featuring chocolate).
