Chipotle chilies (Capsicum Annuum) are simply dried jalapeno peppers. The jalapenos are dried and smoked, turning them into the delicious Chipotle chile. These morita chilies have a unique, medium hot, smoky flavor which is popular in many southwestern dishes. Chipotle peppers are about 2-4 inches in length, 1 inch in width, and have a deep reddish brown color.
We also offer non-organic dried chipotle chile peppers as well as pre-ground chipotle chili powder and dried jalapeno powder in bulk.
Storage: Store organic chipotle chili peppers in an air-tight container in a cool, dark cupboard.
Shelf Life: Chipotle chilies will retain their potency for at least a year, but likely much longer.
Use Chipotles in enchilada sauces, chili, stews, barbecue ribs, and corn bread. Their smoky quality combines well with poultry, meats and fall squash.
