Aji Limo Rojo chilies look a lot like dried habanero chilies, and there’s a reason for that. The two chilies are actually cousins. Aji Limo Rojos are not as spicy as the Habanero, but still have quite a kick. Their flavor (aside from the spice) is slightly sweet and crisp.
Limo Rojos can be used in habanero recipes to tone down the heat while still leaving the dish rather spicy. For a smaller step down in spiciness from the Habanero, try our Organic Aji Cereza Chilies.
These dried Aji Limo Rojo chilies are certified organic.
Scoville Heat Rating: 50,000-60,000

Applications: Reconstitute these chilies and add to soups, sauces, and other dishes. Chop them up, toast them (optional) slightly and add them still dried. Take the tops off and grind them into chili powder using a spice grinder or blender for use as is or as part of your own spice blends. Aji Limo Rojo Peppers are well suited to adding considerable kick to sauces and salsas.
