Size: About 40 cheeks in 2 bags (approx. 10lbs total).
Features: 100% Verified Berkshire Breed, Surface Fat Trimmed (Lean Only), Frozen
Origin: Midwest, US

Many Americans have never considered consuming pork cheek meat but as the rest of the world knows, this meat is some of the most succulent on the entire pig.

These pork cheeks have been cut from the jowel, and trimmed of all surface fat so that you are buying only lean cheek meat.

While straight off the pig cheek meat is not the most tender or lean cut, when braised or stewed all their connective tissue and integrated fat begins to melt into the sauce and the result is truly heavenly.

Kurobuta pork (aka Berkshire pork) is from a rare breed of pig that has long been bred in England and Japan for flavor and more marbled meat. The result is some of the finest pork in the world, sometimes referred to as “The Kobe Beef of Pork.”

Store packages of Kurobuta cheeks in your freezer until you're ready to use them. For thawing tips, please read Safely Defrosting Frozen Food for Maximum Flavor.

We do not recommend refreezing unused raw portions.

Kurobuta cheeks are a good choice for Berkshire pork stew, Kurobuta pork chili, or any other dish involving long stewing or braising.

Recommended Internal Cooking Temp: 150°

Cheek meat is a very economical cut underappreciated in the U.S. Kobe cheeks are rich and incredibly flavorful when slow-braised. more info...
