Kumquats can be eaten out of hand as a snack or added to salads, but most people consider them too tart to eat raw. Instead, they are often candied in simple syrup, pureed into sauces, or turned into marmalade or other preserves. They can also be roasted whole, which softens and sweetens them...making them a great pairing for game meats, seafood, and poultry.
Try pairing kumquats with cinnamon, ginger, dark chocolate, seafood, rum, mustard, cranberries, cardamom, duck, chicken, or nuts.
