One of the more common chili pepper varieties, Jalapenos are prized for their significant, but not overpowering heat and earthy-grassy flavor. Though dried jalapenos are quite common, they are usually also smoked (turning them into chipotle chilies). Unsmoked dried jalapenos and unsmoked jalapeno chili powder are much less common.

Storage: Store jalapeno powder in an air-tight container in a cool, dry place.

Shelf Life: Though they will not stay strong for as long as whole dried chilies, chili powders should retain their potency for up to a year.

Pre-ground jalapeno chile powder is ready to use right out of the bag. Simply add to homemade seasonings, spice rubs, salsas, sauces, and other recipes.
