The classic chile relleno chile with a special place in the hearts of all lovers of Southwestern cuisine, green Anaheim chiles offer just enough heat to bring a mild kick to dishes without overwhelming them. Easy to stuff, roast, or grill, they’re very versatile and a great fresh chile for beginners.
Green Anaheims are the immature variety of this chile. We also offer mature (and generally slightly less spicy) fresh red Anaheim chiles as well as dried Anaheim chiles (aka New Mexico chiles).
Storage: Store fresh Anaheim chilies in the refrigerator wrapped in a zip top bag. They can be frozen for long term storage.
Shelf Life: Up to 2 weeks fresh, up to a year frozen.
Beyond classic chile rellenos, Anaheims can be used in a variety of South or Central American dishes as well as in Southwest and Tex-Mex cuisine. Try adding them to cornbread and corn puddings, baked potatoes, stews, soups and sauces.
Like poblanos, fresh Anaheim chilies can be easily roasted whole on a grill or gas stove.
