Evolved to be picked up and carried about by birds in order to spread its seeds, the Tepin chile (aka bird pepper, chiltepin) is small and berry-shaped. Don’t let its size fool you, these cute little chilies pack a serious punch.
What’s particularly special about them though is their unusually brief heat. While other chilies smolder, Tepin peppers explode in a short burst of intense fire before subsiding into the background, a completely different chile experience!
Scoville Heat Rating: 40,000-70,000
Origin: Mexico
Applications: Reconstitute dried tepin chilies and add to soups, sauces, and other dishes. They can be toasted (optional) slightly and added while still dried. You can also grind them into chili powder using a spice grinder or blender for use as is or in your own spice blends and rubs. Tepins work especially well in posoles, chilis, salsas and stews.
How to Store and Share: For best storage, please keep these chilies in a cool, dry place.
Shipping Method: UPS Ground
