James and Chris are both certified Sommeliers and co-owners of Elevage Wine.  Chris has spent many years as a chef in restaurants throughout the country. When they are not traveling the world and learning about wine and food or consulting with local restaurants, they like to help us here at Marx Foods learn more about food and wine.  James writes our wine pairings and Chris develops recipes and cooks for our photo shoots. 

Chris studied at the Culinary Institute of America and is an alumnus to the International Sommelier Guild. He has worked in a few legendary Seattle restaurants like the Herbfarm, Matt’s in the Market, and Crush.

James went to Villanova University and achieved a Bachelor of Science and Economics, as well as a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Washington. He too is an alumnus to the International Sommelier Guild and has worked at some of Seattle’s finest, including Café Champagne, Nell’s, and Monsoon.
